How this calculation works
Monthly basic salary, HRA and special allowance are totalled, with annual bonus spread over twelve months. The PF, professional tax, TDS and other monthly deductions you enter are then subtracted. Annual CTC is shown only as a reference input and does not drive the result.
Formula used
Estimated monthly take-home = basic + HRA + allowance + annual bonus ÷ 12 − employee PF − professional tax − TDS − other deductions.
Practical example
If monthly earnings plus allocated bonus equal ₹60,000 and entered deductions total ₹8,000, estimated take-home is ₹52,000.
CTC, gross salary and take-home
CTC is the employer’s overall annual cost and can include employer PF, gratuity, insurance and variable benefits. Gross salary is earnings before employee deductions. Take-home or net salary is the amount left after applicable employee deductions; it is the closest of these figures to what reaches a bank account.
- Copy earning and deduction components from the same offer or payslip period.
- Enter annual bonus only if you want it averaged across twelve months.
- Do not add employer-only benefits to monthly earnings.
Why the result is an estimate
This calculator does not derive PF, ESI, professional tax or income tax automatically. You enter those amounts because coverage, state rules, tax regime, declarations, payroll policy and the financial year can change the deductions. A bonus may also be paid at a different time rather than monthly.
Important considerations
- Annual CTC is a reference and is not directly treated as cash earnings.
- Income tax varies by regime, declarations and financial year.
- Employer benefits and reimbursements may not appear in take-home pay.
Frequently asked questions
Why can take-home differ from CTC?
CTC can include employer PF, gratuity, insurance and variable benefits that are not paid monthly.
Is TDS calculated automatically?
No. Enter your monthly TDS estimate because tax depends on personal circumstances.
Does the tool calculate PF or ESI rates?
No. It subtracts the deductions you enter. Use current payroll figures or verify applicable rules separately.
Disclaimer
This simplified estimate depends entirely on the earnings and deductions entered. Actual in-hand pay can vary with payroll timing, tax treatment, statutory coverage, benefits and employer policy.
